Program Overview
The Master LIVE (Leading International Vaccinology Education) is a unique European Master in Vaccinology, offering an integrated formation with a strong scientific background in Immunology, Infectiology, and Vaccinology, as well as multilingualism and multidisciplinarity.
Objectives
The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of vaccinology, including its scientific, legislative, and health policy aspects. The objective is to train international managers in vaccinology, capable of working in various fields, such as quality control, commercial and business development, communication, public health, R&D, and PhD training.
Program Structure
The program is a two-year master's degree, consisting of 120 ECTS, with two application periods: winter (November-January) and spring (March-April). The program is divided into three specializations:
- A first specialization in immunology and immunopathology in Barcelona
- A second specialization in infectiology, including microbiology, virology, and host-pathogen interactions in Antwerp
- A third specialization in vaccinology in Lyon/Saint-Etienne
Admission Criteria
The program is open to international students of any nationality, with a bachelor's degree in medical or veterinary sciences, or life sciences, with at least 180 ECTS. English language proficiency is required, with a minimum level of B2+ or C1.
Course Content
The program includes a range of courses, such as:
- Core scientific courses in vaccinology and epidemiology (15 ECTS)
- Multidisciplinary or language courses (15 ECTS)
- A master thesis teaching unit based on professional work performed as an intern at a LIVE associated partner institution (27 ECTS)

The program is run by a consortium of universities, including Universitť Lyon 1 Claude Bernard, University Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne, University of Antwerp, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, and Universitat de Barcelona. The program has numerous international associated partners from the whole world of chain in Vaccinology, including higher education institutions, research centers, small and medium-sized companies, big pharma companies, and clinical centers.
