Program Description
The program aims to equip professionals with the scientific basis necessary to know and characterize gemstones, particularly to highlight their various treatments and imitations using cutting-edge laboratory techniques. The initiation to market practices and the course of fine stones will give students a concrete approach to economic realities.
Attested Skills
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to identify gemstones autonomously using conventional techniques and laboratory equipment (Raman, FTIR, absorption, luminescence) and their portable analogs.

##Evaluation Methods The theoretical and practical training is done in alternation, usually on the same day. This pedagogical choice allows students to immediately put into practice the notions presented by teacher-researchers accustomed to adapted pedagogy. The small number of students (maximum eight) greatly facilitates interactivity with the teacher(s). Despite the variable level of knowledge among students, no students are left behind. Small tests are conducted each week by the trainers, allowing them to identify and correct any uncertainties or gaps among the students. The evaluation of students and the finalization of the training are done through a supervised personal work (written report at the end of the training) and an oral presentation with computer support (PowerPoint type) before a specialized jury.
Specificities and Prerequisites
The program is open to learners who already have a basis in gemmology (level 3 ING minimum), holders of a scientific license, or professionals in the jewelry industry (5 years of experience and validation of acquired experience).
Target Audience
Professionals in the jewelry and gemstone industry, traders in gemstones, insurers, geological prospectors, having at least obtained level 3 in gemmology, or holders of a Diploma (DMA) in Arts and Crafts and/or equivalent acquired through the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE).
