Specific Health Access Pathway (PASS)
Program Overview
Introduction to the University Program
The University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 offers access to five health science fields: Medicine, Midwifery, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy. There are three possible ways to access the first cycle of one of these fields.
Program Overview
The Parcours Accčs Spécifique Santé (PASS) is one of the two main paths to access health studies in the fields of Medicine, Midwifery, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy. The PASS program lasts for one year and is composed of approximately 80% fundamental health teachings and 20% of a chosen minor disciplinary teaching.
Program Structure
The PASS program is divided into two semesters, primarily consisting of lectures and directed work. The first semester is composed of common teachings for all students, while the second semester includes common teachings, specific teachings for the chosen health field, and teachings for the chosen minor disciplinary field.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the PASS program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be of French or EU nationality, or a non-EU foreigner, with a French, European, or international baccalaureate diploma, or a equivalent diploma.
- Be a candidate for reorientation, internal or external to the university.
- Be a foreign candidate, non-EU resident, with a French or European baccalaureate diploma, or in reorientation, internal or external to the university, with a justification of enrollment in a post-baccalaureate program in a French educational institution the previous year.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates include:
- French or EU nationals with a baccalaureate diploma or equivalent.
- Non-EU foreigners with a French or European baccalaureate diploma.
- Students wishing to change fields, holding a baccalaureate diploma or a diploma of access to university studies (DAEU) or equivalent.
Exams and Admission to Upper Years
It is not possible to repeat the PASS program. At the end of the PASS year, there are three possible scenarios:
- The student has validated their PASS year and been admitted to the second year of their chosen health field.
- The student has validated their PASS year (60 ECTS) but has not been admitted to their chosen health field; they will then proceed to the second year of their chosen minor disciplinary field.
- The student has not validated their PASS year and must reorient themselves in the first year of university via Parcoursup.
Additional Opportunities
Students who pass through the LAS (Licence d'Accčs Spécifique) after a PASS program will have a single new opportunity to apply for admission to their chosen health field, provided they have validated at least 60 additional ECTS credits during their second application. A derogation allowing a third application may be granted in exceptional circumstances.
