The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Acupuncture Scientifique is a university diploma program offered by the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of acupuncture and its applications in various medical fields.

Program Description

The program is a 2-semester course that includes both theoretical and practical training. The theoretical courses cover the principles of acupuncture, its history, and its applications in different medical specialties. The practical training includes hands-on experience in acupuncture techniques and patient management.

Course Structure

• The program consists of 100 hours of distance learning (e-learning) and 143 hours of face-to-face teaching, including 18 hours of practical workshops.
• The face-to-face teaching is organized into modules of 2 days each, held once a month on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm.
• A compulsory practical internship of 2 days is also part of the program, which takes place in the office of one of the teachers or former students of the DIU.

Admission Criteria

• The program is open to doctors of medicine, dental surgery, veterinary medicine, and interns.
• Midwives and foreign students with equivalent qualifications can also apply.
• A written agreement from the teaching supervisor is required for registration.
• The maximum number of students admitted to the program is 100, with a minimum of 6 students required at Lyon 1.

  • Initial training: 587
  • Continuous training (individual payment): 1555
  • Continuous training (employer payment): 1944

Evaluation Methods

• Attendance is compulsory, and students must pass a written exam and a memoir (dissertation) to complete the program.
• A resit session is available for students who score below 10/20 but at least 5/20 in the written exam.
• If a student misses the main exam, they can take it in the September session.
• In special cases, individual evaluation by two jury members on a written and oral test may be arranged.
