Program Overview
The DEUST AGAPSC Parcours Activit廥 Aquatiques is a two-year university program that trains specialists in aquatic activities, with the prerogatives of a lifeguard and the ability to teach and animate swimming lessons and aqua-fitness classes.
Program Description
The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in aquatic environments, including swimming pools, water parks, and beaches. The curriculum includes five blocks of competencies: Expression and Communication, Integration into the Professional Environment, Animation and Supervision of Physical, Sports, and Cultural Activities, Management of Educational and Sports Projects, and Management and Development of a Professional Structure.
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the program, candidates must:
- Hold a BAC+1 degree (first year of license or a DEUST)
- Have experience related to the program
- Demonstrate a good level of swimming (400m freestyle in less than 7'40)
- Be in possession of the PSE1 (First Aid in Team) and BNSSA (National Diploma of Swimming and Lifesaving) certifications
Program Structure
The program is divided into two years, with a total of 1130 hours of instruction. The curriculum includes:
- Cadre legal and reglementaire
- Projet educatif d'animation
- Methodes and techniques of swimming and aquatic activities
- Theorie and pratique de l'intervention
- Analyse fonctionnelle de l'individu en milieu aquatique
- Psychologie, sociologie de l'enfant et de l'adolescent
- Developpement de l'enfant, jeux and apprentissage
- Prerequis securitaires, accidentologie en centre aquatique
- Pratique sauvetage and secourisme (BNSSA)
- Reglementation BNSSA
- Fonctionnement d'un centre aquatique, hygiene and securite (ERP)
- Expression and communication ecrite and orale
- Informatique and bureautique
- Stage and construction du projet professionnel
Evaluation and Assessment
The program includes a combination of continuous assessment and final evaluations. Students must validate each block of competencies to obtain the DEUST degree.

Further Studies
It is possible to pursue further studies in License Professionnelle or third year of License, subject to results and availability.
