Program Overview
The Diplôme d'Université (DU) in Chirurgie Plastique de la Face is a university diploma program offered by the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
Program Description
The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of plastic surgery of the face, complementing their existing knowledge in cervico-facial surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, or dermatology. The program consists of theoretical and practical teachings, as well as research activities.
Program Structure
- The program is divided into 5 thematic modules, each lasting 12 hours.
- The total teaching hours amount to 120 hours, comprising:
- 60 hours of theoretical teaching.
- 30 hours of practical teaching, divided into 6 stages of 5 hours each.
- 30 hours of bibliographic research, culminating in a memoir on a topic defined jointly by the student, a teaching module manager, and the program director.
Admission Criteria
- The program is open to French and foreign medical specialists in:
- Oto-rhino-laryngology and cervico-facial surgery.
- Stomatology and maxillo-facial surgery.
- Plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgery.
- Dermatology.
- Ophthalmology.
- Interns preparing for the Diplôme d'Etudes Spécialisées (DES) in these specialties are also eligible.
- Candidates must submit a application dossier, which will be reviewed by the program director.
Tuition Fees
- The tuition fees for the program are:
- 904 for initial training.
- 1100 for continuing education, either self-funded or employer-funded.
Evaluation Methods
- Attendance is mandatory and a prerequisite for taking exams.
- The program uses a combination of written exams and a memoir presentation to evaluate students.
- The written exam accounts for 100 points, and students must achieve a minimum score of 50 to be eligible for the memoir presentation.
- The memoir presentation accounts for 50 points.
Specificities and Prerequisites
- Candidates must meet the prerequisites and submit a application dossier by the deadline (November 7, 2025).
- The program director will review the dossier and provide written authorization for registration, which must be submitted with the administrative registration dossier.
