Program Overview
The Dipl¶me Universitaire (DU) in Family Peer Support is a university diploma program designed to train family peer supporters who will facilitate understanding, acceptance, and empowerment of families of users in mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Objectives of the Formation
The objectives of this formation are to:
- Implicate caregivers in the support process
- Welcome and identify crisis situations
- Inform and guide families
- Support and accompany families in their journey towards recovery
- Work in a network of partners with the associative, institutional, medical, and social milieu
- Participate in research, teaching, and destigmatization efforts
Duration and Structure
The program lasts for one academic year, from December to September, with a total of 152 hours, including:
- 77 hours of theoretical teaching
- 34 hours of practical teaching (simulation, e-learning, etc.)
- 35 hours of internship
- 1.5 hours of visits to resource locations
Methods and Evaluation
The pedagogical methods used include:
- Presentiel teaching
- Analysis of professional practice with case studies
- Active pedagogy
- Role-playing
- Relational simulation
- Professional experience feedback and supervision
- On-site visits to resource locations
Evaluation is based on:
- Attendance (obligatory)
- Module 1: Oral exam on the fundamentals of the DU and a relational simulation exercise
- Module 2: Memoir on a care-taking experience
- Validation of the internship by the supervisor
Specificities and Prerequisites
Candidates must:
- Provide a pre-registration form indicating their CV and motivation
- Be a member of a family association of users in mental health or intellectual disability
- Have a minimum level of baccalaureate
- Obtain the written agreement of the teaching supervisor
Public Concerned
The program is designed for families of users concerned with mental health and/or neurodevelopmental disorders, who have benefited from psychoeducation during their caregiver journey.

The procedure for registration includes:
- Requesting the agreement of the pedagogical supervisor
- Filling out a pre-registration form
- Adhering to a family association
- Passing an interview to determine the possibility of registration
