The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Chirurgie du Pied et de la Cheville is a joint program between several universities, including Amiens, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Strasbourg, Marseille, Montpellier-Nimes, Nancy, Paris, and Toulouse. The program aims to provide students with practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of foot and ankle surgery.
Program Description
The program is designed for surgeons, orthopedic traumatologists, and medical students who want to specialize in foot and ankle surgery. The program consists of four seminars, each lasting three days, and 12 half-days of practical training. Students are required to validate their attendance at each seminar and practical training session. The program also includes a written exam and a memoir, which must be submitted before the end of the program.
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be surgeons or orthopedic traumatologists with a French state diploma or a diploma from a European Economic Community country
- Be interns in surgery, regardless of the chosen specialty
- Be foreign students enrolled in a surgical specialty program Students must also pass an interview with the regional teaching manager to explain the conditions of registration.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees for the program are:
- 504 for initial training
- 700 for continuing education, either self-funded or employer-funded
Program Structure
The program is taught over two semesters, with a total duration of one year. The program includes:
- Four seminars, each lasting three days
- 12 half-days of practical training
- A written exam
- A memoir
Evaluation
The program evaluation includes:
- A written exam, which accounts for 100 points
- A memoir, which accounts for 50 points Students must pass both the written exam and the memoir to be awarded the DIU.
