Program Overview

The Dipl獽e Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Exploration and Rehabilitation of Balance and Facial Function Disorders is a university diploma offered by the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in association with the universities of Grenoble (Joseph Fourier) and Saint Etienne (Jean Monnet).


Program Description

The program is designed to address the growing need for professionals trained in the exploration and treatment of balance and facial function disorders. The program is open to medical doctors, audiologists, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals concerned with the rehabilitation of balance and facial function disorders.


Program Structure

The program consists of:


  • 1 theoretical teaching module of 48 hours
  • 1 practical teaching module of 22 hours
  • 1 optional module of 8 hours for the facial paralysis option
  • 1 practical internship of 70 hours (equivalent to 2 weeks full-time)

Evaluation Methods

  • A written exam graded out of 20
  • An evaluation of the practical internship by the internship supervisor
  • An evaluation of the internship report and its presentation before a jury

Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the program, candidates must meet the following requirements:


  • Hold a medical degree or be a student in a medical field
  • Have a background in otolaryngology, audiology, or a related field
  • Provide a written agreement from the program director

  • 503 for specific initial training
  • 1200 for continuing education (individual or employer-funded)
