Program Overview

The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Imagerie en Pathologie Osteoarticulaire is a university diploma program that aims to provide integrated teaching, focused on imaging, of various pathologies encountered in the locomotor system.

Program Description

This program is designed for specialists and future specialists in osteo-articular pathology, including radiologists, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, and sports medicine physicians. The program combines online and face-to-face teaching, with two sessions organized in Lyon and Nancy, and three webinars.

Objectives

The program's objectives are to:

• Know the essential anatomical bases for interpreting imaging exams
• Better prescribe imaging based on clinical data and examination
• Know the main signs in imaging of osteo-articular pathologies and be able to describe and understand the diagnostic reasoning
• Know how to highlight elements guiding treatment
• Know the major therapeutic indications and the place of imaging in follow-up

Program Structure

The program consists of:

• 20 hours of theoretical teaching in face-to-face sessions
• 10 hours of theoretical teaching in webinars
• 40 hours of online teaching
• 10 hours of practical teaching in face-to-face sessions
• 10 hours of practical teaching in webinars
• 30 hours of online practical teaching and case studies

Evaluation

The program's evaluation includes:

• Attendance at teaching sessions, which is mandatory
• A final online exam consisting of a theoretical test and a practical test on case studies
• A minimum average score of 10/20 is required to validate the program

Admission Criteria

Admission to the program is based on a dossier containing a curriculum vitae and a letter of motivation, subject to the written authorization of the program director. The program is open to:

• Interns in a DES course, regardless of the chosen specialty
• Foreign doctors enrolled in a DFMS or DFMSA course
• French specialist doctors, regardless of the specialty practiced
• Holders of a French diploma allowing the practice of medicine
• Holders of a diploma allowing the practice of medicine in one of the other European Community countries
• Foreign doctors holding a diploma allowing the practice of medicine in the country of origin or obtaining

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the program are:

• 504 for DES, DFMS, and DFMSA students
• 604 for initial training
• 1100 for continuing education, either individually or employer-funded

Organization

The program is organized by the Université Claude Bernard - Lyon 1, Service des Spécialités Médicales, with the support of the Hopitaux Lyon Sud and the Service d'Imagerie.

Sessions and Webinars

The program includes:

• Two face-to-face sessions, one in Lyon and one in Nancy
• Three webinars
• An online final exam in June and a possible retake session in September

Careers

The program prepares students for careers in medicine, particularly in the fields of radiology, rheumatology, orthopedic surgery, and sports medicine, corresponding to the ROME codes J1102 (General Practitioner) and others.
