The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Pediatric Nephrology is a university diploma offered by the University of Lyon 1, in association with the Universities of Paris and Montpellier. This program aims to provide practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat kidney diseases and urinary tract disorders in children.

Program Description

The DIU in Pediatric Nephrology is a one-year program that includes 111.5 hours of theoretical teaching, composed of 12 course modules. The program is divided into four sessions, which take place in different cities: Paris, Montpellier, and Lyon. The program covers various aspects of pediatric nephrology, including fundamental, physiopathological, clinical, and therapeutic knowledge.

Admission Criteria

To be admitted to the program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Be a medical doctor with a qualification in pediatrics or nephrology from a French or foreign medical faculty.
• Be a student in the process of validating their specialization in pediatrics or nephrology, with a minimum of two years of coursework in the specialty.
• Be deemed eligible by the program director and authorized by the Pedagogical Council.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the program are as follows:

• Initial training: 604
• Continuing education (individual funding): 800
• Continuing education (employer funding): 800

Evaluation Methods

The program evaluation consists of two parts:

• An oral exam, lasting 30 minutes, with three questions (case studies or course questions), and a minimum score of 24/60 required to pass.
• A written memo, scored out of 20, and a presentation of the memo, scored out of 20, with a total score of 50/100 required to pass.

Target Audience

The program is designed for medical doctors who want to acquire specialized knowledge in pediatric nephrology. The program can accommodate 35 to 45 students, divided among the four participating medical faculties.
