Program Overview

The Dipl獽e Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Health Sciences is a university diploma program offered by the University Claude Bernard - Lyon 1. The program focuses on the specific problems of the locomotor system in sports practice.


Program Description

The program is designed to provide practitioners with education on the specific problems of the locomotor system in sports practice, with a particular emphasis on degenerative phenomena caused by repetitive microtrauma related to sports practice. The program consists of 5 seminars, each lasting 2 days, as well as theoretical and practical teaching.


Program Structure

  • The program lasts for 1 year.
  • It comprises 5 seminars of 2 days each, from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.
  • Theoretical teaching is provided locally for 4 hours.
  • Practical teaching is provided for 2 half-days.
  • The total duration of the program is approximately 90 hours.

Seminars

  • Seminar 1: Hand, Wrist, and Elbow of the Athlete. Muscular Pathology of the Athlete. Pathology of Golf and Judo.
  • Seminar 2: The Spine and Pelvis of the Athlete. The Foot and Ankle of the Athlete. Pathology of Rugby and Basketball.
  • Seminar 3: Muscle and Tendon of the Athlete. Pathology of Gymnastics and Martial Arts.
  • Seminar 4: Shoulder of the Athlete. Pathology of Handball and Tennis.
  • Seminar 5: Knee of the Athlete. Pathology of Football and Skiing.

Admission Criteria

  • The program is open to:
    • General practitioners responsible for the medical-sports management of a club (team or individual sports).
    • Students in the 3rd cycle of their medical curriculum.
    • Doctors holding an equivalence of specialty in orthopedics, pediatrics, rheumatology, or physical medicine and rehabilitation.
    • Holders of the Certificate of Specialized Studies (CES) in sports medicine, pediatrics, functional rehabilitation, or rheumatology.
    • Holders of the Capacity in Sports Medicine.
    • Interns in orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, functional rehabilitation, or rheumatology.
  • The number of registrations is limited, and candidates must meet the specified conditions.
  • Written agreement from the teaching coordinator must be attached to the registration file.

Evaluation

  • The program lasts for 1 year.
  • Attendance at classes is mandatory.
  • Knowledge control is carried out annually in June, with a written and oral exam.
  • The written exam consists of 3 questions treated in 2 hours, each question being graded out of 20.
  • The oral exam is graded out of 30, and each student must answer a question drawn at random.
  • To be declared admitted, candidates must obtain a minimum of 45 points out of 90 (total of written and oral exams).
  • There will be no September session. Candidates who fail will be given priority for registration the following year.
