Program Overview

The Diplôme Inter Universitaire (DIU) in "Santé, société et migration" is a university diploma program that aims to provide professionals with the necessary tools and knowledge to work with migrant populations. Program Description

The program is designed to respond to the needs of professionals working with migrant populations, particularly in the fields of healthcare and social services. The program's objectives are to:


  • Provide a better understanding of the clinical situations where migration is a factor
  • Transmit keys and tools to understand intercultural situations, intersubjective mechanisms, and concurrent psychological processes
  • Overcome the compartmentalization between disciplines, between research and the field, between care and social services, and propose a training that articulates these different fields of investigation
  • Support professionals by offering a space for exchange, reflection, and enrichment
  • Improve the coordination of follow-up and support, as well as networking in general

Program Structure

The program is a one-year diploma that consists of 104 hours of theoretical teaching. The teaching will be done through lectures, and the course materials may include PowerPoint presentations, film excerpts, and theoretical texts. A significant amount of time will be devoted to exchanges, facilitated by the limited number of participants.


Admission Criteria

To be admitted to the program, candidates must meet the following criteria:


  • Be a doctor of medicine
  • Be a medical student (any specialty) from the DCEM 1 level
  • Be a healthcare executive
  • Be a nurse
  • Be a nursing student from the third year (with validation of the second year)
  • Be a psychologist (any specialty)
  • Be a student of the École des Psychologues Praticiens from the fourth year (with validation of the third year)
  • Be a psychology student from the master's level (with a validated license)
  • Be a midwife
  • Be a psychomotor therapist
  • Be an orthophonist
  • Be an ergotherapist
  • Be a social worker
  • Be a counselor in social and family economics
  • Be a socio-cultural animator
  • Be a monitor-educator
  • Be a director of a social economy establishment
  • Be a holder of the Cafdes (Certificat d'Aptitude aux Fonctions de Directeur d'Établissement Social)
  • Be a lawyer
  • Be a magistrate
  • Be a student of the Institute of Social Work Training from the third year
  • Be a student from the master's level (with a validated license) in anthropology, sociology, philosophy, linguistics, education sciences, political sciences, and law

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the program are as follows:


  • Formation initiale: 903
  • Formation continue (individual): 1500
  • Formation continue (employer-funded): 1500
  • Memoire in formation initiale: 500
  • Memoire in formation continue: 700

Evaluation

The evaluation of the program will be based on:


  • Assiduity, which will condition the authorization to take the exam
  • Writing a memoir (out of 20 points)
  • Defense of the memoir (out of 20 points)

Capacity and Selection

The program has a minimum capacity of 15 students and a maximum capacity of 25 students. The selection of candidates will be based on their CV and a letter of motivation. In case of a large number of applications or questions about the candidates' motivations, telephone interviews may be conducted. The admission committee will meet twice, at the beginning of July and at the beginning of September, to determine the candidates who will be admitted to the program.
