Program Overview

The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire (DIU) in Sciences Criminelles is a university diploma program offered by the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, in partnership with the Universités Lyon II, Lyon III, and the Direction de la Police Nationale. The program aims to provide professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system, including the definition of a criminal act, its sociological and psychological aspects, and the roles of various interveners in the investigation process.

  • Understanding the definition of a criminal act and its sociological and psychological aspects

Program Structure

The program consists of 120 hours of teaching, spread over two semesters, with a minimum of 0 hours and a maximum of 115 hours of attendance required. The program includes:


  • 50 hours of common courses with the Master 1 Droit Privé et Judiciaire program
  • 70 hours of non-common courses, held on Thursday afternoons from 4 pm to 7 pm, from October to June
