Program Overview
The Subspecialization in Medicine program is a specialized medical training program that focuses on Maxillofacial Surgery and Stomatology. This program is designed to provide advanced training in the field of maxillofacial and stomatological surgery.
Program Description
The program is a Diplomas of complementary specialized studies (DESC) level 2, which is a national diploma that requires a high level of specialization. The program is divided into two main parts: Enseignements (teachings) and Formation Pratique (practical training).
Teachings
The Enseignements component of the program consists of approximately 200 hours of teaching, which covers the following topics:
- Methodology for the evaluation of care practices and clinical research and epidemiology in maxillofacial surgery and stomatology
- Organization, management, law and medical liability in maxillofacial surgery and stomatology
- Stomatological and maxillofacial medical pathologies
- Surgical stomatology
- Pre-prosthetic surgery and implantology
- Pathology of the temporomandibular joint
- Cranio-maxillo-facial trauma (soft and bony parts)
- Benign and malignant tumor pathology, including skin tumors
- Medical and surgical pathology of the salivary glands
- Craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery
- Orthognathic surgery and dento-maxillofacial orthopedics
- Plastic, aesthetic and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery
- Surgery of craniofacial malformations, including cleft lip, maxillopalate
Practical Training
The Practical training component of the program consists of six semesters of practical training in approved services for the Diploma of complementary specialized studies in maxillofacial surgery and stomatology. These semesters must be completed in at least two different services or departments.
Program Requirements
The program requires a high level of specialization and a strong foundation in medicine. The admission criteria include:
- A Diploma of specialized studies in general surgery, with the agreement of the teaching coordinator of the Diploma of complementary specialized studies
- A minimum of BAC+9 and more
Program Structure
The program is structured to provide a comprehensive education in the field of maxillofacial and stomatological surgery. The program consists of:
- 6 semesters of training
- A National Diploma
- A high level of specialization
Program Coordination
The program is coordinated by Pr Pierre BOULETREAU, and the responsibility of the Parcours is held by BRETON PIERRE.
