Program Overview
Master 2 Plasturgie
Overview
The Master 2 Plasturgie program offers a professional experience in the polymer materials industry. The field of plasturgie provides a vast range of professional opportunities, from everyday applications to cutting-edge technologies, including nanotechnologies, high-tech materials, and biocompatible materials.
Admission Criteria
Admission to the program is based on a validated Master 1 degree in Sciences and Technologies, with a focus on materials, chemistry, physics, or engineering, or an equivalent level.
Program Structure
The program is offered in an alternance format, with a one-year contract of apprenticeship or professionalization. The capacity for this program is limited to 16 alternants.
Location and Faculty
The program is hosted by the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne, with faculty comprising professionals from the industry and teacher-researchers from the University of Saint-Étienne (Laboratoire Ingénierie des Matériaux Polymčres, UMR CN RS 5223).
Degree
The program leads to a Master 2 degree (Bac+5), delivered by the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne.
Objectives of the Program
The primary objective of the Master 2 Plasturgie program is to train future professionals in the plasturgie industry, enabling them to contribute their expertise in the areas of material development, rheology, and plasturgie. These professionals will be able to:
- Design and master the processes of material development and implementation in an industrial environment.
- Manage projects related to the conception and implementation of polymer materials, with a focus on controlling their properties and behavior.
- Provide added value to the industry through their knowledge of material characterization and rheological behavior.
- Conduct technological surveillance on research and development of new materials and processes, proposing innovative solutions.
Competences
The program aims to equip students with the following competences:
- Knowledge of polymer materials: chemistry, physics, rheology
- Understanding of plasturgie processes: management, optimization, quality control
- Familiarity with application domains
- Mastery of chemical, physical, and mechanical characterization techniques for polymer materials
- Ability to define actions for choosing, developing, and optimizing material development or shaping processes for specific objects or applications
- Ability to manage and control production for given applications
- Mastery of technological surveillance in R&D
- Proficiency in communication, team management, and English language
