The License Professionnelle Codeur en LfPC program is designed to train professionals in the field of deafness and accessibility. The program focuses on the Langue française Parlée Complétée (LfPC), a gestural code that accompanies lip reading and enables individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to receive visual messages.


The Profession of Codeur LfPC

The codeur LfPC is a professional who works with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, from a young age through adulthood, in various settings such as classrooms, workplaces, and private contexts. Their role is to transmit and adapt oral messages in French using the LfPC code, ensuring that individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing can receive the full message visually.


The Formation

The formation is a one-year university program that takes place from September to June, in a face-to-face setting. It is divided into four modules:


  1. Academic teaching: knowledge of deafness, linguistics, and phonetics, as well as the development of hearing and non-hearing children.
  2. Technical and practical teaching of the LfPC: over 200 hours of training.
  3. Two internships in professional settings: a three-week observation internship in medico-social establishments and a nine-week experimentation internship in accompaniment of codeur(s) in LfPC.
  4. A professional project with a written and oral presentation.
