Program Overview

Introduction to the PeiP Program

The PeiP program, also known as Parcours des Ecoles d'Ing幯ieurs Polytech, is designed for high school graduates who have majored in science and wish to pursue engineering. This program is offered by Claude Bernard University and is part of the Polytech Network.

Admission Criteria

Candidates are admitted to the PeiP program following a competitive examination known as Concours Geipi Polytech. The program allows for automatic admission to any of the 13 schools of the Polytech Network, provided that the two years of the program are validated. The assignment of students to a specific school is based on their preferences, depending on the specialties offered, and is subject to the availability of places.

Program Structure

The PeiP program is a two-year training program that provides students with a strong basic education. The program uses specific teaching schemes, including:

  • Individualized follow-up of students
  • Written tests (mock exams)
  • Oral tests
  • Small class sizes (30 students maximum)

Curriculum

The curriculum is part of the Licence de Math幦atiques (a diploma gained after 3 years of higher education in mathematics) and provides a gateway to other "licence" degrees in computer science, physics, mechanics, and civil engineering. The two-year program is divided into 4 semesters (S1, S2, S3, and S4), each of which includes 5 teaching units (UE). Four of these units are unidisciplinary (mathematics, computer science, physics, mechanics), while the last one is multidisciplinary and includes English, French, business and industry awareness, science and society, sports, and more. Each teaching unit is allocated 6 ECTS credits (European credit transfer system).

Detailed Curriculum

The pedagogical organization of the PeiP program at Polytech Lyon is summarized in the following table: | Semester | Maths | Physics/Chimical | Compute Science | Languages & Compute Science | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | S1 | 12 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | | S2 | 12 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | | S3 | 12 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | | S4 | 12 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects | 6 ects |

  • Languages stand for English and French
  • SHS (Humanities and social science) include the development of awareness to communication and team work, an introduction to the business world, and the management of a mini-project
  • Optional credits (Options) make it possible for students, depending on their professional project, to shift towards a (Mathematics/Physics/Mechanics) or (Mathematics/Computer Science) path
