Program Overview

Introduction to the Mechanical Engineering Program

The Mechanical Engineering program at Polytech Lyon is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of mechanical engineering. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems.

Objectives of the Program

The objectives of the Mechanical Engineering program are to:

  • Form and certify engineers capable of managing organizational, economic, financial, human, scientific, and technical aspects of a project
  • Provide students with a solid foundation in the different domains of mechanical engineering, including structure calculation, fluid dynamics, acoustics, and vibrations
  • Emphasize the implementation of numerical methods and the mastery of major calculation codes related to various mechanical engineering domains
  • Offer possibilities for specialization in double diploma (Master 2 Research) programs, including Biomécanique, Mécanique des fluides et énergétique, and Dynamique des systčmes et des structures

Admission Criteria

Admission to the Mechanical Engineering program is based on a national competition organized by the Polytech network. Students can apply for admission after completing their second year of studies (Bac+2) or after completing their fourth year of studies (Bac+4). The admission process involves:

  • A single registration for different specialties offered by the 15 Polytech schools
  • A competition that takes into account the student's academic record and performance in the entrance exam
  • For international students, admission is possible through the Campus France procedure or by direct application to the Polytech network
