Program Overview
Introduction to the Program
Zhengzhou University (ZZU) is the largest university in China in terms of student number. As a key university in China, ZZU has been enlisted in the project of National World First-class Universities since September 2017. With four campuses, Zhengzhou University has 47,000 full-time undergraduates, 24,000 postgraduates, and more than 2,700 international students from over 116 countries and regions. ZZU is on its way to becoming a comprehensive and research-oriented university.
University Rankings
Zhengzhou University has established 12 major disciplines, including science, engineering, medicine, literature, history, philosophy, law, economics, management science, pedagogy, agriculture, and arts. Among these disciplines, chemistry, clinical medicine, material science, and engineering are considered "World First Class Disciplines." The university performs well in various international university rankings, with more than 17 disciplines ranking in the top 1% and five disciplines ranking in the top 1‰ in the ESI ranking. The rankings are as follows:

Scholarship
As the largest university in China, Zhengzhou University provides numerous scholarships to sponsor hundreds of excellent international applicants to pursue their degrees at ZZU each year. This is the only Chinese university with so many scholarship seats. All excellent students are welcome to study at ZZU.
Medical Education
The medical education at ZZU started in 1928, and clinical medicine is one of the National World-Class disciplines. With 12 affiliated hospitals, ZZU has 40 national key clinical specialties, 145 provincial clinical specialties, 36,000 patient beds, and an outpatient number reaching 2 million. Zhengzhou University has two national drug clinical research bases and was listed as a national doctor training university.
ONE-YEAR MEDICAL FOUNDATION PROGRAM (ENGLISH)
The Zhengzhou University Medical Foundation Program (in English) offers bridge courses connecting students from high school to university. The program enables international students to improve their language proficiency to satisfy the requirements of EMI bachelor programs, consolidate their foundation in natural science and medical propaedeutic, and facilitate the improvement of academic and professional English, as well as day-to-day Chinese language skills.
Target Students
- Students whose scores do not meet the entry requirements of the bachelor programs
- Students who plan to study preparatory courses in medicine and pharmacy
Main Courses
The program consists of four modules:
- Daily Chinese Module: enhances international students' knowledge in listening and speaking Chinese language
- English Learning Module: includes General English, Academic English, and Medical English
- CSCA test Module: allows international students to evaluate their knowledge and reinforced understanding of core science subjects
- Medical Preparatory Module: includes workshops, group discussions, and training to enrich aspiring students' knowledge of studying medicine

The main campus of Zhengzhou University is located at 100 Science Avenue, High-tech Development Zone, Zhengzhou, Henan, China.

- Module learning: September 2026 - July 2027
- Module review: July 2027
- Final exam: July 2027

Course Assessment
Final examinations will be held in July 2027. The assessment panel will make a detailed evaluation of the test scores and declare the results based on which the student will get entry to the MBBS, BDS, or Pharmacy program at Zhengzhou University.
Certificate Award
- Certificate awarded upon successful completion of the program and passing all exams
- Study certificate issued upon completion of the PBPME but not passing all exams
- No certificate will be issued if failing to take exams

Eligibility
- Non-Chinese citizen
- 18-23 years old
- Minimum of high school graduate (or equivalent)
- High school result of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology should not be less than 10-15% of the scores required by the entry requirements of the medical undergraduate programs in Zhengzhou University
- English proficiency minimum at IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent)
- Financial guarantee to support education in China
- Be in good physical and mental health
- No criminal record
