Introduction to the Design of Fashion Bachelor's Program

The Design of Fashion Bachelor's program at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais is structured into three main axes: Linguagens, Operacional, and Autoral. This structure aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in fashion design, from basic introduction to specialized studies.


Program Structure

  • The Linguagens axis focuses on basic content introduction to fashion design and visual arts.
  • The Operacional axis prepares students for specific studies in fashion and clothing, including obligatory intermediate formation disciplines.
  • The Autoral axis constitutes the last two periods, offering in-depth and specialized formation through obligatory disciplines that support the student's final project, enabling them to enter the job market with competence and solid formation.

Differentiation of the Course

The curriculum of the Design of Fashion course is established on principles of flexibility, privileging diversity of academic experiences, investigation of related areas, autonomy, integration between the general and the specific, potentialization of personal creativity, and the ability to channel it according to market reality. This approach aims to contemplate the identity of the students.

The course has access to laboratories for Modeling, Printing, Confection, Textile, Digital Design, and Illustration, providing practical experience and skills development.

The bachelor in Design of Fashion should be capable of mastering the language of fashion and clothing, expressing concepts and solutions in projects according to various techniques of visual expression and reproduction. Professionals can work as stylists, in collection creations, in the management of clothing production processes, as professionals capable of elaborating fashion editorials, acting as fashion editors, or managing ateliers.

  • Duration: 8 semesters
  • Form of Admission: Selection occurs through the Unified Selection System (Sisu), using notes from the National High School Exam (Enem), and through the selective process of serialized evaluation. Additionally, it is necessary to undergo the Habilidades selective process.
