Course Overview
The Geografia (Licenciatura) course at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) aims to form professionals capable of understanding processes related to the production and organization of natural and socio-economic spaces. The course provides theoretical guidance to reflect on the main problems concerning spatiality and territoriality of phenomena that compose reality.
Course Structure
The course starts with a general curriculum, and from the 4th period, students begin to take specific licentiate activities offered by the Faculdade de EducańŃo da UFMG. These disciplines prepare students for their future profession and address issues such as teaching didactics, teaching practice, sociology of education, and education policy.
Differential of the Course
The graduation course accompanies the dynamism of society to form thinking, critical, and reflective professionals. The studies demand a high reading load and various fieldwork, including trips to different locations in Minas Gerais and Brazil, to investigate the elements discussed in the classroom. Duration and Admission
- The course lasts 8 semesters in the morning and 11 semesters in the evening.
- Admission is through the Unified Selection System (Sisu), which uses notes from the National High School Exam (Enem), and through the selective process of serial evaluation.
