Program Overview
The 5th Summer School: Education in Human Rights is a extension course promoted by the Open Chair of Human Rights of the Association of Universities of the Montevideo Group (AUGM) and the Pro-Rectory of Extension (Proex) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Program Details
- The course will take place from February 24 to 28, 2025, from 9am to 5pm, in the A102 auditorium of the CAD2, on the Pampulha campus.
- The program is designed for anyone interested, particularly undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, technical-administrative servants of universities, public policy managers, social movement participants, and civil society associations.
- The course has a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing historical, political, social, educational, legal, subjective, and cultural aspects.
- The program will cover various fields of human rights, including:
- Public policies
- Institutional violence
- Racial equality
- Indigenous rights
- Rights of the population in street situations
Program Schedule
Monday, February 24
- 9am to 12pm: Official opening - The cycle of public policies of human rights in the scope of Mercosur
- 2pm to 5pm: Criminal Law, punitive power and human rights, in the international plane
Tuesday, February 25
- 9am to 12pm: The place of education in the defense of democracy and human rights
- 2pm to 5pm: Institutional violence against women (in Spanish)
Wednesday, February 26
- 9am to 12pm: Violations and defense of human rights of the population in street situations
- 2pm to 5pm: Clinical training in human rights in public universities as a contribution to the guarantee of non-repetition (in Spanish)
Thursday, February 27
- 9am to 12pm: Interculturality and indigenous rights (in Spanish)
- 2pm to 5pm: Indigenous worlds and human rights, non-humans, more-than-humans: the struggle for the original territories of the Kaiow· people
Friday, February 28
- 9am to 12pm: Racial equality
- 2pm to 5pm: Education in human rights, vulnerable groups and security in university spaces
Certification
Participants who complete 75% of the activities will receive certificates.
Accessibility
