Academic Programs
Degree in Aquaculture
The Aquaculture undergraduate program at UFMG, conceived in 2008, is the first of its kind in the southeastern region of Brazil. It aims to form professionals with knowledge of the entire productive chain of aquatic organisms, covering areas such as biology and physiology of species of economic value, production methods, health control, and food processing for human and aquatic organism consumption. The program also provides notions of economics, marketing, and planning, enabling aquaculture professionals to promote the economic and sustainable development of aquatic species.
Program Structure
- Duration: 10 semesters (5 years)
- Annual intake: 50 students, selected through the National High School Exam (Enem) and the Unified Selection System (Sisu)
- Classes are held in the daytime, morning and afternoon, at the Escola de Veterinária and other UFMG units.
