Program Overview

Introduction to the Welding Technology Program

The Welding Technology program offers students solid practical and theoretical knowledge related to welding and the metal-mechanical industry. The areas of knowledge covered during the course include: gas cutting and welding processes, shielded metal arc welding, MIG/MAG, TIG, flux cored arc welding, submerged arc welding, resistance welding, and non-conventional processes; welding symbology; technical drawing interpretation; materials science; metallurgy; and heat treatments.

Course Curriculum

The program covers a range of subjects, including:

  • Processos de Soldagem (Welding Processes) The discipline aims to present the main welding processes used in industry and research laboratories through a theoretical approach. Students will participate in classroom debates about each process, understanding the physical-chemical phenomena involved and the different operational techniques.
  • Fundamentos de Soldagem (Welding Fundamentals) The objective of this discipline is to introduce students to the concepts, definitions, and physical and chemical applications involved in the various types of welding processes. Additionally, it aims to improve the ability to read and interpret projects.
  • Laborat鏎io de soldagem (Welding Laboratory) In this discipline, students will practically learn the main welding processes, providing the opportunity to know the different operational techniques, machine regulation, advantages, disadvantages, applications, and limitations of each process.
  • Mat幦atica (Mathematics) The mathematics subject aims to instruct students to solve everyday problems and technical area problems using arithmetic, algebra, and/or geometry.
  • Inform嫢ica (Computer Science) This discipline will present basic computer concepts to students, aiming to develop skills in text editing, slides, spreadsheets, and internet explorers.
  • Comunica誽o e Rela踥es Humanas (Communication and Human Relations) The content of Communication and Human Relations was developed to elucidate the dynamics of selection processes in general, with classes focused on organizational psychology.

Program Details

The program provides a comprehensive education in welding technology, covering theoretical and practical aspects of the field. Students will gain a deep understanding of the various welding processes, materials science, and metallurgy, as well as develop skills in technical drawing interpretation, mathematics, and computer science. The program also includes a focus on communication and human relations, preparing students for a successful career in the industry.
