The Programa Estaçăo Ecológica PROECO is a dynamic program that aims to contribute to the consolidation of an effective dialogue between the Estaçăo Ecológica da UFMG and society. It has become an important center of reference for discussions on socio-environmental issues in environmental education for students in the municipality, serving from basic education to higher education.

Program Objectives

The program, developed in partnership with PROEX, seeks to integrate various areas of knowledge into the environmental proposal. It favors interdisciplinarity and the exchange of information between undergraduate students from different courses at UFMG, rescuing the contact of urban citizens with nature and producing a discussion about humans and the environment.

The program involves research in areas such as:

• Contribution to the knowledge of the occurrence and ecology of Stephanopodium engleri Baill
• Pollinator groups differ in diversity and specialization of interactions across urban green spaces
• Tools for managing Environmental Education in protected areas through self-guided interpretive trails
• Integrated fire management as a tool for reducing forest fires: A feasibility study of prescribed burning in the Estaçăo Ecológica da UFMG

Location

The Estaçăo Ecológica da UFMG is located in the Pampulha campus and offers workshops, lectures, and guided tours. It is one of the spaces dedicated to preserving the green areas of Belo Horizonte and is open to the public.
