Program Overview
Introduction to GO Wales
GO Wales is a new employability project held by Swansea University's Employability Academy and funded by the Welsh Government to provide specific support to students from underrepresented groups and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to reach their potential and achieve their goals and aspirations.
Benefits for Employers
Local employers can benefit from work experience opportunities of various durations, including:
- Unpaid work experience (Up to 70 hours)
- Paid internships (Between 70 and 210 hours, i.e., up to 6 weeks full-time)
The purpose of work experience opportunities is to help students develop new and essential skills in specific industries and provide support to employers with active and enthusiastic students.
Additional Support for Students
We also support students through other opportunities, including:
- Insight days: An opportunity for a small group of students to visit your business premises to learn more about the work you do, your brand, your opportunities, and your recruitment process.
- Employability bursaries: Up to £250 is available for training and Continuing Professional Development activities. After receiving this training, students can use the new knowledge and apply it to expand your business.
- Student employability events focusing on developing students' skills and preparing them for their future careers. Local employers are invited to roundtable discussions with students where they can share their essential tips for careers and will be networking events with companies that recruit.
- Mentoring opportunities with professional practitioners and Swansea University alumni
- Employability, Entrepreneurship, and Enterprise support: We help students become more entrepreneurial and empower them to develop the mindset, experiences, and skills to start their own businesses, a fulfilling career, or a social enterprise. We welcome workshops and initiatives led by employers, providing valuable experiences and helping to create opportunities for our students to become entrepreneurial.
