Program Overview
Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering is a field of study that focuses on understanding how things are put together, used, and made better. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the principles and practices of materials science and engineering.
Program Overview
The Materials Science and Engineering program offers a 3-year BEng degree with optional year in industry or year abroad. Students can choose to study for a BEng or MEng degree, with the option to add a foundation year. The program covers the main engineering materials and applies knowledge learned in lectures through practical lab classes and real-life examples.
Program Structure
- The program typically consists of 18 hours of lectures per week.
- Students are assigned a Personal Tutor who provides guidance and support throughout their studies.
- Class sizes are small, with less than 40 students, allowing for a close and supportive community.
Modules and Courses
The program includes a range of modules, such as:
- Polymers
- Order and Disorder in Materials
- Ceramic Materials
