Introduction to the Linking Summer Academy

The Linking University Summer Academy is a 4-week program that offers cutting-edge research across 8 courses, ranging from Nanotechnology to the study of Comics. The program is conducted entirely in English, providing participants with ample opportunities to explore Swedish culture.

Program Details

• The program duration is 4 weeks, taking place from June 26 to July 25, 2026.
• It includes 8 taught courses in English at Campus Valla, such as:
  • Alternative Energy: the past, present, future, and inventions.
  • Is There an App for That: Potentials and Pitfalls of Using Smartphones as Medical Devices.
  • Leadership and Organisational Behaviour in Contemporary Organisations.
  • Nanotechnology: Sustainable Challenges and Social Impact.
  • Superman, Daisy Duck, and Tintin: reading and learning in the world of comics.
  • Sweden: Language, Culture, and Society.
  • Swedish International Management in a De-Globalized World.
  • The Use (and Abuse) of Culture.
• There are spaces for 8 Swansea University students only on this summer program.

Costs and Funding

• The cost of the Linking University Summer Academy is 7,200 SEK (equivalent to ｣573).
• Funding is available for eligible students:
  • ｣900 for standard eligible students.
  • ｣1,300 for eligible widening participation students.
• Funding is limited and not guaranteed for all applicants. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Published funding is only open to eligible applicants who apply by midnight, January 4, 2026. After this date, funding levels may be reduced.

Application and Next Steps

• Applications for the program are closed as spaces are full and all funding has been allocated.
• To apply, students must complete the online application form and may need to provide additional documentation, such as a Student Finance Award letter for widening participation funding assessment.
• Students must also complete Swansea University's travel approval process.

Eligibility

• Students must be enrolled at Swansea University.
• Students cannot be in the final year of study.
• Students must be 18 years old to participate in all programs.
• Students will need to meet any eligibility criteria set by the program provider/partner university summer school (where applicable).
• Postgraduate students can apply for funding but must provide evidence that their academic supervisor approves of their participation at the point of application.
• International students should speak to the Visa Advice team to check the impact of participation on their Student Route visa.

International Travel Approval

All students must complete the University's International Travel Approval process to participate in summer programs and remain eligible for funding. This includes watching the Summer Programme Travel Approval Overview video, completing online Crisis24 training modules, and submitting a Health Declaration Form and Request to Travel form.
