Year in Industry Students and Placements
The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Swansea University offers a Year in Industry program, which provides students with valuable work experience and practical skills in their chosen field.
Student Experiences
Several students have shared their experiences of participating in the Year in Industry program:
- Aungshu Rahman, who worked at GE Aviation, found the experience to be excellent and valuable for his future career.
- Andy Dodd, who worked at Mercedes AMG, developed skills and experience in industry, including designing and developing trackside equipment and testing circuit boards.
- Annabelle Boardman, who worked at Zimmer Biomet, designed and developed hip replacements and surgical instrumentation, and will return to the company as a Development Engineer after graduating.
- Oliver Brooks, who worked at Laing O'Rourke, had the opportunity to work on two large-scale infrastructure projects in Australia and the UK, and is now a scholar of the company.
- Johan Yap, who worked at PY Konsep, recommends doing a Year in Industry in one's home country, as it provides a win-win situation and helps students build professional networks.
