Introduction to the CHARM-EU Student Exchange Programme

The University of Würzburg is part of the European University of Excellence CHARM-EU, which aims to strengthen Europe's innovative capacity and the excellence of the European higher education model in teaching and research. This programme is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote the networking of universities across Europe.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for the CHARM-EU Student Exchange Programme, students must be enrolled at the University of Würzburg and be at least in their 2nd semester in the summer term 2027. The application process involves submitting a central online form in the MoveOn online portal, where students can choose up to three university preferences. The deadline for applications is 15.01.2026.

Partner Universities and Language Requirements

The following partner universities are part of the CHARM-EU programme, along with their respective language requirements:

• Ĺbo Akademi (Turku, Vasa, Jakobstad): Swedish or English language skills at B2 level
• Universitat de Barcelona: Spanish or Catalan language skills at B1/B2 level
• Universitetet i Bergen: English at B2 level
• ELTE Budapest: English at B2 level
• Universitč de Montpellier: English at B2 level, depending on course selection partly French B2 level
• Trinity College Dublin: English at B2 level
• Utrecht University: Depending on course selection, knowledge of Dutch or English at C1/C2 or B2 (Bachelor)/ C1 (Master) level

Not Possible for Certain Fields of Study

Certain fields of study are not available at the partner universities, including:

• Medicine at Ĺbo Akademi, Universitat de Barcelona, Universitetet i Bergen, ELTE Budapest, Trinity College Dublin, and Utrecht University
• Biomedicine, Dentistry, and Master Programmes at Universitat de Barcelona
• Fine Arts, Music and Design, and certain courses in other subject areas at Universitetet i Bergen
• Psychology at Universitč de Montpellier
• Media Communication and Master Programmes at Trinity College Dublin
• Veterinary Medicine and subjects with restricted admission at Utrecht University

• Letter of motivation (in English)
• Letter of recommendation (using the provided template)
• Overview of academic performance (English printout from WueStudy)
• Language certificate
• BA certificate (if applicable)

Grants and Scholarships

Students participating in the CHARM-EU programme can receive:

• Tuition waiver
• Erasmus mobility grant (540.00 - 600.00/month, depending on Erasmus country group assignment)
• Additional monthly financial top-up (250.00/month) for employed students and students with chronic illness and/or disability
• Funding for additional travel days
• Erasmus Online Linguistic Support (online language course)
