Program Overview
Master Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Education (M.A.)
The Master's Programme in Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Learning is designed for students and practitioners with a bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) and a foundation in educational studies amounting to at least 40 ECTS credits.
Start of Studies
The programme starts in April 2026 (Summer semester) and October 2026 (Winter semester).
Duration
The standard duration of the programme is 4 semesters full-time and 8 semesters part-time. The maximum duration is 6 semesters full-time and 12 semesters part-time.
Semester Fee
The semester fee is approximately €168 per semester, including a semester ticket for local public transport.
Possible Study Locations
The programme can be studied in Würzburg or online (synchronous-hybrid).
The Programme at a Glance
The programme offers modules taught in English, making it accessible to individuals with limited German proficiency. Applicants are required to have at least B2-level English skills. German language skills can be acquired in the "Compulsory Electives" module.

Programme Format
All courses are conducted on-campus in Würzburg, providing a vibrant, in-person learning environment. While it is encouraged for students to relocate to Würzburg, those unable to do so should ensure their participation in the designated on-campus intensive weeks to fully engage with the programme. A significant portion of the courses is also delivered in a hybrid format, enabling remote online learning.
On-Campus Intensive Weeks
The programme includes on-campus intensive weeks, which are held semi-annually in Würzburg. These weeks provide opportunities to connect with peers, faculty, and practitioners, as well as to explore the campus and city.
Double-Degree Options
The programme offers double-degree options with the University of Padua and the University of Ljubljana.
Double Degree with the University of Padua
The double degree programme with the University of Padua allows students to spend one semester at the Italian university.
Double Degree with the University of Ljubljana
The double degree programme with the University of Ljubljana allows students to spend one semester at the Slovenian university.
Study Course Options
The Master in Adult Education and Management in Lifelong Education (M.A.) can be completed in three different ways:
- By attending all modules in Würzburg
- By choosing the double degree programme with the University of Padua and spending one semester at the Italian university
- By choosing the double degree programme with the University of Ljubljana and spending one semester at the Slovenian university
Part-time Options
The programme can be studied part-time, allowing students to combine their studies with other aspects of their life, such as work or care obligations.
