Program Overview

Bachelor Sportwissenschaft

The Bachelor Sportwissenschaft program is a six-semester course that leads to a first, practice-oriented, professionally qualifying degree for a wide range of health-related fields. The program focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of movement programs for preventive purposes.

Qualification Objectives

The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education that qualifies them for the conception, implementation, and evaluation of health-promoting movement programs. The graduates will be able to work in various health-related fields, including the private sector and public institutions, such as sports clubs, sports associations, and municipalities.

Profile of the Bachelor Program

The Bachelor Sportwissenschaft program with a focus on Gesundheit und Bewegungsp輐agogik (Health and Movement Pedagogy) considers health as a theme and occasion for education. The program focuses on the aspects of sport and movement, and its goal is not to proliferate workers for existing standardized health professions. Instead, it enables students to develop new health-related concepts in the context of movement and sport.

Bewegungsp輐agogik (Movement Pedagogy)

The movement pedagogy is the second focus of the program. It follows the approach of education and upbringing through and with movement and sport. The program also understands movement as a theme and occasion for education. The students' own movement biography can play an important role in this context.

Praxis (Practice)

In contrast to the teaching degree program, there are no lectures that are assigned to specific sports and concluded with motor performance tests. A sports aptitude test is not required. Practice in the sense of motor self-realization is not an end in itself. It is used when it promotes the development of seminar topics. Typical examples include teaching and learning movements, training, and diagnostics, as well as the treatment of movement trends and the staging of movement in groups.

Berufsfelder (Career Fields)

The program qualifies students for professional activities in which movement is worked with thematically and programmatically, and which do not require specific training and degrees due to regulations (e.g., exams). Possible examples of professional activities include the conception, planning, organization, and evaluation of movement offers in health and education institutions, as well as in the private sports and health market.

Admission Requirements

  • The general requirement is the "Allgemeine Hochschulreife" (general higher education entrance qualification).
  • A "Fachabitur" (subject-specific higher education entrance qualification) is not sufficient.
  • It is possible to have a "FOS/BOS 13" in some subject areas.
  • There are opportunities for professionally qualified individuals.
  • A sports aptitude test is not required and is not taken into account when calculating the Numerus Clausus (NC).

Program Structure

The program is designed as a six-semester course with a focus on health and movement pedagogy. The students will learn about the basics of sport science, including sport motor skills, sport pedagogy, and sport biology. The program also includes modules on movement and health, as well as on education and upbringing through movement and sport.

Studieninformationen (Study Information)

The study program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in sport science, with a focus on health and movement pedagogy. The program includes various modules, such as sport science and portfolio, sport pedagogy, and sport biology. The students will also have the opportunity to participate in practical courses, such as movement and health, and education and upbringing through movement and sport.

Studiengangsleitung Bachelor (Bachelor Program Leadership)

The program leadership and study advice are provided by Herr Siebe, AR. The examination board consists of Prof. Dr. Lange, AR Siebe, and Prof. Dr. Sperlich.

Anerkennungen / Studiengangswechsel / Bewerbung in ein h鐬eres Fachsemester (Recognitions / Program Change / Application for a Higher Semester)

When applying for the first semester, students go through the usual application process. Already completed performances (e.g., at other universities, from a teaching degree program, or from another bachelor's combination with sport science) can be recognized afterwards within the first semester. The examination board decides on this. Students should inform themselves in advance which performances can be recognized. Practical events from the sports of a teaching degree program can usually not be recognized.

When applying for a higher semester, the restriction of the Numerus Clausus (NC) does not apply. However, admission is only possible if study places are available. For an application for a higher semester, 15 ECTS per subject and semester of recognizable performances must be available (e.g., 30 ECTS when applying for the 2nd semester). The examination boards of the subjects involved decide on the recognition of the ECTS required for admission. From a completed teaching degree program, a maximum of 50% can usually be recognized, so that 2-3 additional semesters of study are usually planned.

The forms for recognition can be found at the examination office. The recognition can take 3-4 weeks. Students should therefore plan their change in good time.

A timely and personal consultation with both subject advisors is strongly recommended for program changers. For the subject of sport science, students should contact Herr Siebe.
