M.Sc. Informatik Program Details

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the M.Sc. Informatik program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  1. An undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, mathematics) with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits.
  2. Proof of competencies in mathematical and computer science fundamentals, including at least 25 ECTS credits in mathematics and theoretical computer science.
  3. A bachelor's thesis with a minimum of 10 ECTS credits in the field of computer science.
  4. German or English language proficiency (B2 level or higher).

Application Process

The application process for the M.Sc. Informatik program involves the following steps:


  • Submission of an online application through the WueStudy platform.
  • Upload of required documents, including:
    • A completed Excel sheet (alternative version available for LibreOffice).
    • Transcript of records or performance overview.
    • Bachelor's degree certificate (if available).
    • Bachelor's thesis (if available).
  • If necessary, participation in an aptitude test to assess the applicant's competencies in theoretical and practical computer science.

Aptitude Test

The aptitude test is a 30-minute oral examination that evaluates the applicant's knowledge in the following areas:


  • Theoretical computer science.
  • Practical computer science (algorithms, data structures, programming skills, software engineering).
  • Technical computer science (computer systems and information transmission).

Note Requirements

The required note for admission to the program depends on the applicant's undergraduate degree grade. If the undergraduate degree was completed within the standard study period or with a maximum delay of one month, a grade bonus of 0.5 is awarded.

Application Deadlines
