Program Overview
Introduction to Deutsch-Französische Studien
The Deutsch-Französische Studien program is a bilingual bachelor's degree with a double degree, where students from Germany and France study together at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) and the Université de Caen Normandie. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the French and German languages, cultures, and digital competencies.
Program Structure
The program is divided into three years of study, with the first year spent at the JMU, the second year spent at the Université de Caen Normandie, and the third year spent back at the JMU. During the first year, students will learn French as a foreign language, while French students will learn German. The second year is spent in France, where students will take courses together and participate in a minimum six-week internship in a French-speaking country.
Admission Requirements
The program is open to students with a good command of French. No entrance exam is required, and the program is admission-free.
Course Content
The program includes courses in French and German language, literature, culture, and digital competencies. Students will also participate in virtual language tandems and take part in a workshop on scientific writing.
Bachelor Thesis
The bachelor thesis is a mandatory part of the program, and students will be assigned a supervisor from the Department of Literature and Language Sciences. The thesis must be submitted in two bound copies and one electronic version, along with an original signed declaration of independence.
