Program Overview


Administrative Information Systems

Introduction

The Administrative Information Systems study programme is an interdisciplinary university study programme implemented jointly with the Faculty of Administration. It offers in-depth knowledge of computer technology, internet, and information technology, as well as administrative-legal, economic, and organisational skills necessary for understanding public and business administration.

Curriculum

The curriculum is available on the Faculty of Public Administration website. It includes a scheme of the curriculum in Slovenian language and an English version published on the web page of the Faculty of Public Administration.


Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria

Enrolment in the first-cycle interdisciplinary academic study programme in Administrative Information Systems is open to candidates who have:


  • passed the secondary school examination (matura)
  • passed the vocational school-leaving examination in any programme of secondary professional or secondary technical education, and the general school-leaving examination in computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • finished any four-year secondary school programme before 1st June 1995

In the event of limited enrolment, candidates are selected based on their overall results of the secondary school examination or final exam, and their overall study results in the third and fourth year of secondary school.

  • Candidates from EU member states:
    • First application period: 18th March 2025
    • Second application period: 20th - 27th August 2025
  • Candidates from non-EU member states and Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship:
    • First application period: 18th March 2025
    • Second application period: 3rd and 4th September 2025

Main Objectives and General Skills of the Programme

The aim of the study programme is to offer students a greater selection of content provided by the faculties. The programme aims to provide students with:


  • capability of critical, analytical, and integrative thinking
  • ability to define, understand, and creatively solve professional challenges and problems in the field of information science and administration
  • capability of searching for expert sources and critical assessment of acquired information
  • ability to independently acquire knowledge and know-how, research, and utilise research results and findings in practice
  • administrative and organisational capabilities and the ability to manage or participate in the framework of interdisciplinary expert groups
  • capability for lifelong learning in a knowledge-based society
  • capability of self-reflection and developing professional responsibility and ethics

Graduate's Course-Specific Competencies

Graduates will have the ability to:


  • integrate, transfer, and develop knowledge from the field of information science, administration, organisation, management, economy, and computer science
  • understand and analytically assess the field of organisation, management, and public finances
  • understand and critically analyse administrative and legal organisation and practice in Slovenia and the European Union
  • recognise, analyse, and solve problems in the field of administration in the public and private sector
  • analyse, plan, develop, and upgrade information systems and computerise business processes
  • demonstrate essential competence in the field of computer and information science
  • implement computer and information knowledge in the field of administration in public and private sector
  • independently perform less and more demanding engineering tasks in specific narrow fields
  • demonstrate essential competence in the field of administrative and information sciences

Requirements for Progression Through the Programme

Conditions for advancement to a higher year for undergraduate study programmes:


  • Full-time study:
    • enrolment in the 2nd year: 52 ECTS
    • enrolment in the 3rd year: 112 ECTS, of which 60 ECTS from compulsory courses from the 1st year
  • Part-time study:
    • enrolment in the 2nd year: 44 ECTS
    • enrolment in the 3rd year: 104 ECTS, of which 60 ECTS from compulsory courses from the 1st year

Reenrolment in full-time and part-time study is possible according to Article 152 of the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Students who have not completed all the requirements set by the study programme for enrolment into a higher year may once in the course of the studies repeat a year if they have satisfied the conditions for reenrolment set by the study programme.
