Program Overview
Introduction to Leto Plus
Leto Plus is a module of study content intended for foreign students in their first year of regular study at the University of Ljubljana. Within Leto Plus, foreign students learn Slovene for free while also fulfilling their obligations in their study program.
Purpose of Leto Plus
Leto Plus is designed for regular foreign students who are enrolled in the first or second cycle of studies at the University of Ljubljana. Students can apply for Leto Plus if they enroll at the University of Ljubljana with the citizenship of the country they come from.
Eligibility for Leto Plus
The following students are eligible for Leto Plus:
- Regular foreign students who are enrolled in the first or second cycle of studies at the University of Ljubljana.
- Students who enroll at the University of Ljubljana with the citizenship of the country they come from.
Exclusions from Leto Plus
The following students are not eligible for Leto Plus:
- Foreign students who enroll in programs that require knowledge of Slovene at the B2 level.
- Exchange students (Erasmus+, Ceepus, bilateral agreements, etc.).
- Foreign students who enroll at the University of Ljubljana with Slovenian citizenship, except for students with the status of a repatriated person.
Benefits of Leto Plus
Leto Plus offers the following benefits:
- Learning Slovene for easier integration into study and life in Slovenia.
- The opportunity to learn Slovene in parallel with regular studies at the University of Ljubljana.
- The possibility of recognizing credits obtained within the Leto Plus module.
Slovene Language Courses
Leto Plus includes the following Slovene language courses:
- Slovene as a Foreign Language Lecture 1 (3 ECTS): This course is designed for foreign students who are encountering organized and systematic learning of Slovene for the first time. The course includes 60 contact hours and is valued at 3 ECTS.
- Slovene as a Foreign Language Lecture 2 (3 ECTS): This course is designed for students who have already successfully completed Lecture 1 of the Slovene as a Foreign Language course. The course includes 60 contact hours and is valued at 3 ECTS.
Recognition of Credits
Students can recognize credits obtained within the Leto Plus module:
- Within the framework of external electives in their study program, in any year of study, if the study program offers the possibility of choosing an external elective course and if the faculty/academy, where the student is enrolled, recognizes the courses within Leto Plus as external elective courses.
- For a one-year extension of student status, exclusively after the first year of study (this right is not transferable to higher years of study).
Extension of Student Status
International students who are in their first year of study at the University of Ljubljana and have obtained at least 30 ECTS credits, including 6 ECTS credits in Slovene (Slovene as a Foreign Language Lecture 1 and Slovene as a Foreign Language Lecture 2) and 24 ECTS credits in their study program, have the right to a one-year extension of student status.
Application for Leto Plus
The application for Leto Plus is usually possible one day after the completion of enrollment at the faculty. Applications are possible with a digital student identity.

In case of technical difficulties when applying for the Leto Plus module:
- Check if 24 hours have passed since the completion of enrollment at your faculty.
- Do not apply via phone, use a computer.
- Try applying later or apply from a different browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox).
- If you still cannot apply, send a screenshot of the application form.
