Kinesiology Doctoral Programme
The Kinesiology doctoral programme is an interdisciplinary science that studies human voluntary movement, with a wide range of applications in research, sport and fitness, medical rehabilitation, and elsewhere. The main aim of the programme is to train independent researchers with broad expertise and in-depth basic methodological knowledge, who will be able to carry out independent and creative scientific research and development work in kinesiology.

Highly trained professionals in this field are important for translating new scientific knowledge into applied applications.
Admission Requirements
Enrolment in the doctoral study programme is open to:
- Graduates of a second-cycle study programme at the Faculty of Sport
- Graduates of another second-cycle study programme, provided the candidate has passed a special test of knowledge
- Graduates of study programmes leading to a master of science degree after completion of academic higher education in kinesiology
- Graduates of a study programme leading to an academic higher education qualification for a physical education instructor
- Graduates of other domestic and foreign universities in accordance with the conditions prescribed in the previous paragraphs
Selection Criteria
Candidates will be selected based on their success in undergraduate studies, as well as their scientific and expert achievements. Individual elements of selection will be evaluated in the following manner:
- The average grade in an undergraduate programme (excluding the diploma)
- Diploma thesis and defence graded 8 or higher
- A research article scored according to the criteria of the UL Habilitation Commission
- Preeren Award bestowed by the University of Ljubljana
- Preeren Award bestowed by the faculty
- Other higher education programme diploma thesis
- Professional postgraduate course attested by a valid certificate
Application Deadlines
- 1st Application deadline: until 1 September 2025, 23:59 CEST
- 2nd application deadline: from 11 September until 22 September 2025, 23:59 CEST
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees and study contributions are published in the price list for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Information Day
The information day will take place on 15 May 2025 at 14:00 at the UL Faculty of Sport.
