Program Overview

The Visual Communications Design program is a leading program in Slovenia, with a long tradition of excellent teaching and setting professional standards. The program comprehensively covers the areas of graphic design, photography, and illustration, and sets guidelines for the development of visual culture in a broader social space.


Program Structure

The program provides students with fundamental and advanced knowledge that can be directly applied in practice, both in printed and digital media. After the first year, the study is directed towards individual directions, which are thoughtfully and thoroughly upgraded in the second cycle of study. The program encourages students to develop critical evaluation and equips them with numerous theoretical and practical subjects to work responsibly and innovatively in the field of visual communications.

Admission Requirements

For the academic years from 2025/2026 to 2028/2029, admission to the Visual Communications Design program is possible for:


  • Those who have passed the general matriculation examination
  • Those who have passed the vocational matriculation examination in any secondary school program and passed an exam in one of the subjects of the general matriculation examination: art history, fine arts theory, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology
  • Those who completed any four-year secondary school program before June 1, 1995

All candidates must pass an aptitude test.


Selection Criteria

In case of limited enrollment, candidates will be selected based on:


  • Success in the aptitude test (90% of points)
  • Overall success in the general matriculation examination or final exam (5% of points)
  • Overall success in the 3rd and 4th year of secondary school (5% of points)

For candidates with vocational matriculation, the selection criteria are:


  • Success in the aptitude test (90% of points)
  • Overall success in the vocational matriculation examination (4% of points)
  • Overall success in the 3rd and 4th year of secondary school (3% of points)
  • Success in the subject of the general matriculation examination (3% of points)

In exceptional cases, it is possible to enroll in the program even if the candidate does not meet the admission requirements, but demonstrates exceptional talent.
