Program Overview
Program Overview
The doctoral study program in Built Environment offers a scientific approach to the fields of construction, geodesy, spatial planning, and geology. The program aims to equip students with the skills of scientific thinking and problem-solving, enabling them to collaborate on complex professional issues using an interdisciplinary approach. The primary goal of the doctoral program is to educate highly qualified researchers in specific scientific fields.
Program Details
- Type of Study Program: Doctoral
- Duration: 4 years
- ECTS Credits: 240
- Member of UL: Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering
- Scientific Title: Doctor of Science (abbreviated as dr.), equivalent to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English
About the Program
The doctoral study program in Built Environment provides students with the ability to handle research problems using the most modern scientific methods, critically evaluate research results, and transfer new technologies and knowledge into practice. Students can enroll in the following scientific fields:
- Construction
- Geodesy
- Spatial Planning
- Geology
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the doctoral study program in Built Environment, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Graduates of second-cycle study programs
- Graduates of study programs that educate for professions regulated by European Union directives, valued at 300 ECTS credits, or other integrated master's study programs valued at 300 ECTS credits
- Graduates of former study programs for specialization who have previously completed a higher professional study program. These candidates must complete additional obligations up to 60 ECTS credits before enrolling in the doctoral program.
- Graduates of study programs for obtaining a master's degree in science or specialization after completing a study program for university education. These candidates are recognized for their study obligations in the amount of at least 60 ECTS credits in the doctoral study program.
Selection Criteria
In the event of limited enrollment, candidates are selected based on:
- Average grade of study (15%)
- Grade of diploma or master's thesis (5%)
- Success in the selective examination (80%), which consists of a written exam in the field of natural sciences and technology Candidates can replace 40% of the written exam grade with the grade of their previous scientific and professional work in the field of the study program.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees and other costs for enrollment in doctoral study programs are published in the price list for the 2025/2026 academic year.
