Introduction to Social Pedagogy

Social pedagogy is a diverse, dynamic, and often deeply fulfilling field that allows individuals to view the world from a unique perspective, approaching social groups that are often hidden and contributing to the reduction of stigmatization, exclusion, and the creation of a more tolerant and just society.

Program Overview

The Social Pedagogy program is designed to be interdisciplinary, combining theoretical and practical knowledge from psychology, pedagogy, social pedagogy, philosophy, and sociology, with a significant emphasis on self-reflection. Throughout the program, there is a continuous connection between theory and practical experiences gained through practice in various institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Program Goals

The goals of the Social Pedagogy program include:

  • Deepening the understanding of individuals and groups who are socially excluded and disadvantaged, as well as the circumstances that create such conditions.
  • Equipping students with the skills to offer support and lead counseling processes for individuals and groups in various life stages and circumstances.
  • Enabling students to reflect on their personal and professional development, with the program providing the opportunity for directing one's own professional development.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the Social Pedagogy program is open to those who have completed their secondary education (matura) or have finished any four-year secondary school program before June 1, 1995. In cases where admission is limited, candidates are selected based on:

  • Overall success in the matura or final exam (60% of points).
  • Overall success in the 3rd and 4th years of secondary school (40% of points).

Program Structure

The program is structured to provide a comprehensive education in social pedagogy, including both theoretical foundations and practical training. Students can expect to engage in a variety of coursework, practicum, and projects that prepare them for careers in social pedagogy.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Social Pedagogy program can work in kindergartens, elementary schools, educational institutions, prisons, and non-governmental organizations such as youth centers, associations, and similar, contributing to the creation of solutions for challenges faced by communities and reducing social exclusion and deprivation.
