Program Overview
The Sociologija program is a university-level, two-subject study program. It lasts for 3 years and consists of 90 ECTS credit points. The program is offered by the Faculty of Arts.
Program Description
Graduates of the first-level two-subject study program in Sociologija are broadly educated and familiar with the basics of social sciences and cultural theories. They possess skills such as:
- Knowledge of the history and development of sociological thought and contemporary social science theories
- Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methodologies in sociological and cultural research
- Ability to apply sociological knowledge and basic sociological concepts in practice
- Ability to independently understand and place new social and cultural phenomena within existing theoretical and problem frameworks in sociology
- Ability to solve professional and work problems by searching for knowledge sources and applying scientific methods
- Knowledge of methods for verifying scientific theories
- Understanding of globalization processes and the relationship between the global and the local
- Familiarity with several specific disciplinary areas of sociology and sociology of culture
- Knowledge of sociological assumptions of humanities and the connection between sociology and humanities
- Sense of cultural diversity of human society and the ability to adapt conceptual apparatus to specific social and cultural environments
Professional Title
The professional title awarded upon completion of the program is "diplomirani sociolog (UN)" or "diplomirana sociologinja (UN)" which translates to Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English.
Admission Requirements
For the academic years from 2025/2026 to 2028/2029, admission to the Sociologija program is open to:
- Those who have completed general matriculation
- Those who have completed vocational matriculation in any program of secondary vocational education or technical education and have passed an examination in one of the subjects of general matriculation; the chosen subject must not be the same as the one already passed in vocational matriculation
- Those who completed any four-year secondary school program before June 1, 1995
Selection Criteria
In case of limited enrollment, candidates from points a) and c) will be selected based on:
- Overall achievement in general matriculation or final examination (60% of points)
- Overall achievement in the 3rd and 4th years of secondary school (40% of points) Candidates from point b) will be selected based on:
- Overall achievement in vocational matriculation (40% of points)
- Overall achievement in the 3rd and 4th years of secondary school (40% of points)
- Achievement in the subject of general matriculation (20% of points)
