Program Overview

University Program: Design of Textiles and Clothing

The Design of Textiles and Clothing program is a field that originates from traditional crafts, but has developed its own system of expression in the last century, connected to artistic and other design practices and theories.

Program Description

The creative process of a textile designer typically begins with an idea, which must be visualized using visual means and later or simultaneously finding appropriate technical procedures. The process of conceptualizing and materializing an idea requires a great deal of knowledge and experience related to artistic disciplines, social sciences, and knowledge of implementation technologies.

Based on experiences with current higher education in the design of textiles and clothing over the last 25 years of cooperation with foreign higher education institutions, a new concept of study has been prepared, which is based on four parallel verticals of study: basic - parallel study of design of textiles and clothing, artistic expression vertical, technological - support for the implementation of design ideas, and supportive vertical, which includes the necessary knowledge and development of skills in computer-aided design, knowledge of the history of textile and clothing design, marketing, and management.
