Bachelor of Design - International (Fashion Design)

The Bachelor of Design - International (Fashion Design) is a four-year full-time course that combines the three-year Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) with one year of international studies. This degree provides industry-standard facilities and is advised by leading industry mentors. Students will develop their design identity, working individually and in teams on real-world briefs and projects.

Course Structure

The course comprises 384 credit points, including:

• Core Introductory units: 72 credit points
• A Design major: 108 credit points
• QUT You: 24 credit points
• Complementary studies: 180 credit points, made up of:
  • International exchange year: 96 credit points
  • Design specialisation units: 36 credit points
  • A minor, or a combination of design specialisation units and electives (unit options): 48 credit points

Special Conditions

To be eligible for the exchange year, students must:

• Be currently enrolled at QUT (not deferred)
• Have a GPA of at least 4.50, maintained up until the time of departure for exchange
• Complete DYB102 Impact Lab 2: People at any stage prior to exchange
• Be supported by their faculty, who will confirm their suitability to participate in the exchange program
• Be financially self-sufficient for the duration of the exchange
• Agree to the key exchange requirements when applying for exchange

Admission Requirements

• ATAR/selection rank threshold: 70.00
• Assumed knowledge: English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C)
• Year 12 early offer scheme: Eligible for current Queensland Year 12 students
• Guaranteed advanced standing: Available through the QUT College Diploma in Creative Industries

Fees

• 2026 fees: CSP $10,300 per year full-time (96 credit points), $40,800 per year full-time (96 credit points) for international students

Scholarships

• International Merit Scholarship: A high achievement scholarship for future international undergraduate and postgraduate students
• International Talent Scholarship: A new scholarship for 2026 that covers tuition fees, with eligibility based on prior academic achievements

Career Outcomes

Graduates qualify for membership at the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and have opportunities for careers in fashion design, with enhanced global employability.
