General Mathematics Bridging Program

The General Mathematics Bridging Program is designed to help students meet the requirements for tertiary-level studies. Successfully completing this program will provide students with the assumed knowledge in general mathematics for QUT courses and meet the maths prerequisite for courses in education.

This program is aimed at students who need to meet the general mathematics prerequisites or assumed knowledge for their university studies. Completing this program will ensure students meet the prerequisites for the Bachelor of Education.

Registrations

Registration for Semester 1, 2026 is open. The program starts on February 23, 2026, and ends on May 29, 2026, with an exam on June 2, 2026. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 pm at the Kelvin Grove campus.

Costs

• Fee: $1,500 per person (GST-free)
• Payment method: Full fee must be paid online by credit/debit card when registering
• FEE-HELP and HECS-HELP are not available for bridging programs

Cancellations

To cancel registration, students must apply in writing. The refund amount depends on when the student withdraws:

• Before the start date: Full refund minus $100 administrative fee
• Before the end of week four (Semesters 1 and 2) or week two (Summer Semester): 50% refund
• After week four (Semesters 1 and 2) or week two (Summer Semester): No refund

This program aims to help students gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and competence to enter tertiary studies with a mathematical component. The content is based on the current senior secondary schooling curriculum General Mathematics (equivalent to Mathematics A).

Workload and Time Commitment

Attendance at all sessions is essential, and students are expected to spend at least the equivalent of class time on private study.
