Entry Requirements
To be eligible for entry into the Master of Optometry, students must have completed QUT's Bachelor of Vision Science within the last two years with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.00. Students who have not completed QUT's Bachelor of Vision Science may be considered for entry, but they must have an optometry qualification and be seeking to practice as an optometrist in Australia.
Course Structure
The Master of Optometry course provides increased exposure to real-world learning experiences, both within QUT Health Clinics and in the workplace via extended clinical placements. Case-based learning and case-based assessment will enhance the training in diseases of the eye and ocular therapeutics.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of the Master of Optometry can work in a range of settings, including private practice, contact lens practice, pediatric vision, occupational/public health vision, or low vision. Many graduates enter private practice, with a view to future partnership or the establishment of their own practice.
