University Preparation Program

The University Preparation Program (UPP) is a free pathway to undergraduate studies at QUT. This program is designed for students who have completed Year 12 or are at least 18 years old at the first QUT census date. The program aims to introduce students to university-style learning in a supportive environment, setting them up for success in their future studies.

Program Details

• The program is delivered at the Kelvin Grove campus over two semesters, with three units per semester.
• The program covers essential academic skills, including information technology, research, and writing processes.
• Students will be introduced to life at QUT and have access to courses and career advice to help them make informed decisions about their next study option.

Admission Criteria

• The program is open to applicants who have either completed Year 12 or will be at least 18 years old at the first census date of the program.
• If you do not have an ATAR or selection rank, you can still apply, as all applications will be considered.
• The ATAR/selection rank threshold is 55.00, but this is not a requirement for application.

Fees

• The program is CSP Fee Exempt, meaning that students are not required to pay tuition fees.
• Students may need to pay student services and amenities (SA) fees as part of their course costs.

Career Outcomes

• Upon successful completion of the UPP, students will have a selection rank that they can use to apply for entry to QUT undergraduate courses.
• The selection rank can be used to apply for a range of QUT diploma and bachelor degrees.

Requirements

• The program can be completed in two semesters, undertaking three units (36 credit points) per semester.
• Entry to the program is available in February and July.
• Students can defer their offer and postpone the start of their course for one year.

English Language Requirements

• If you do not have the required English language score, QUT offers English language programs to improve your English and help you gain entry to the course.

Advanced Standing

• Advanced standing is not permitted in this course.
