Family Life (BS): Human Development Emphasis
The Family Life program with a Human Development emphasis is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human development and family relationships. This program requires a minimum of 49 credit hours and a maximum of 49 credit hours.

Learning Outcomes
The program has several learning outcomes, including:
- Human Development Content and Theory: Demonstrate understanding of major concepts, theories, and research findings in substantive areas of human development.
- Research and Evaluation Methodologies: Critically evaluate and/or use the various methodologies used in human development research.
- Effective Writing and Analysis: Write professional research papers on human development questions that demonstrate an ability to synthesize and critically evaluate research related to specific theories and/or substantive areas.
Program Requirements
The School of Family Life requires a minimum of 18 hours of upper-division major course work to be taken in residency at BYU for this degree program. This requirement includes taking at least 12 hours minimum of the human development core in residency at BYU. These hours may also go toward BYU's 30-hour residency requirement for graduation.
