Program Overview
Advanced EMT Certification Course
The Advanced EMT Certification Course is designed for individuals who possess a current National Certification at the EMT level or a current state license at the EMT level or higher. All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the course, students must meet the following requirements:
- Possess a current National Certification at the EMT level or a current state license at the EMT level or higher
- Obtain the required certification by the second week of class
- Have a current healthcare provider level of CPR certification
- Have a current PALS certification
Course Requirements
Students are required to have the following:
- A stethoscope and blood pressure cuff, which can be purchased for $35
- A current healthcare provider level of CPR certification, which can be obtained for $50 on the first day of class
- A current PALS certification, which can be obtained for $50 on the second day of class
- A Tuberculosis test within the 12 months prior to the first night of class
Course Details
The Advanced EMT Certification Course will be offered from January 8, 2026, to April 14, 2026, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-9:30pm. The course fee is $905, with a $100 discount available for volunteer fire departments.
Refund Policy
No refunds will be given for any reason once the course begins, including failure to obtain the Utah EMT certification.
Additional Requirements
- A current Utah EMT License is required by the start of the course to take the Advanced EMT class
- A background check will be conducted by the university police during the first week of class
- A copy of the CPR and PALS certification cards must be provided to the instructor before the second day of class if obtained externally.
