Program Overview
University Program Information
The UMB Center for Global Engagement is offering an immersive faculty development program in Costa Rica for a select cohort of UMB faculty members to globalize their courses, modules, tracks, or clinical electives.
Program Details
From January 4-8, 2023, UMB faculty members will engage in a series of interactive workshops on topics such as:
- Learning design and assessment
- Strategies to globalize curricula
- Ethical global engagement
- Incorporating active learning
- Inclusive classroom practice
- Other relevant topics
Program Requirements
Participants must propose a global course, module, track, clinical elective, or international program that they will design in collaboration with skilled trainers during the workshop.
Admission Criteria
An interdisciplinary committee of UMB faculty will review applications and select fellows to participate in this institute. Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Articulation of the proposed project and likelihood of realization of the project
- Potential impact of the proposed project
- Curricular innovation
- Alignment with UMB's commitment to ethical global engagement
- Clearly identified plans to share global learning strategies with faculty members within their school
Program Partners
The UMB Center for Global Engagement is partnering with the UMB Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, the InterAmerican Center for Global Health, and the American Association of Colleges and Universities to offer this program.
